Can someone explain to me why every single American idol winner is...?

It has nothing to do with phone voting because more people live in one major metropolitan city than all the little ones down south combined. The population in LA or NY is more than all of the winners' towns combined. It might have more to do with their "deep south" personalities. They tend to be sweeter and more real so even though I live in a big city I tend to vote for the southerners lol.
