What names do you like best of these?
Some words of caution. Avoid strange spellings (Aleksander) since they are challenging for the child to learn how to write and spell. Avoid anything too trendy and overused at the time you give birth --- there are so many girls in clrooms with the overused names of Emma, Caitlyn/Kaitlin, and Kailey/Cailey, Savannah, Britney because parents followed the trend. Also, avoid anything too unusual, such as Iverson or Brayclen, unless it has some special meaning within your family. Stay away from anything that could open the child up to potential teasing by other children ("looney" for Luna; veggie jokes for Kale; and redneck jokes for Duane). On your list of boys, Gabriel, Leland (with the childhood nickname of Lee), Bryce and Austin are all nice. On the list of girls, Angela is a wonderful traditional name which you don't often hear these days. Victoria is rather nice, as long as you are willing to tolerate the inevitale nickname of Vicky that school mates are going to impose on her. Look to the traditional names from 50+ years ago for ideas, or even biblical names or variations of biblical names as possibilities. Consider the names of people who have inspired you over the years, such as favorite authors, artists, musicians, etc. For middle names, consider your maiden name or maiden names with your family or the father's family (think "Fitzgerald" as in John Fitzgerald Kennedy, where Fitzgerald was the president's mother's maiden name). Lastly, be certain to give consideration to the child's initials for any names you're considering. Avoid names that will yield initials such as B.O.; B.S.; P.U., etc., as they will be the source of unending teasing for the child in elementary school.
