Can u tell me more about shark finning?

I am doing a position paper about to stop shark finning. I picked this because my school's mascot is a shark and it sounded really interesting. I watched a video about it and it was horrible. They cut of the sharks fins and threw the carc back into the ocean. I also know it will change the whole system of everything in the ocean. Can u tell me more and what you think about this?
